2010 1:1 SUPER 8 FILM FESTIVAL

ONE REEL | ONE TAKE | ONE NIGHT

For the third time in South Florida, Black Iron Film Artist Collective and the original One Take Super 8 Event present the 2010 1:1 Super 8 Film Festival. Twenty independent filmmakers and artists from South Florida will load their cameras to take part in this year’s spectacle. These 200 second “masterpieces” will truly display the diversity and creativity from different independent filmmakers of South Florida.

DIRECTIONS - Take Andrews Ave to SE 5th St. and turn East, then left on SE 1st Ave. Both located on the South side of the New River, East of the Andrews Avenue Bridge. Free and meter parking is available behind The Maxwell Room/The Downtowner Saloon and under the Andrews Avenue Bridge.

Altered States

Altered States is a group exhibition curated by gallery directors Peter Symons and Leah Brown including works by AdrienneRose Gionta, Joni Younkins-Herzog, Donna Haynes, Leah Brown, Michael Russo, Pepe Mar, Peter Symons, Ricardo Chavarria, and Douglas Hoekzema. Each of these artists is exploring the relationship between the mental and the physical, from synesthesia to stream of consciousness, sexual anxiety to phrenology to neuroscience and philosophy of mind.

DCG Open


David Castillo Gallery will present DCG Open, an annual survey exhibition of 66 emerging and established Miami-based artists who work in a variety of disciplines including painting, drawing, video, photography, sound, prints, fabric and sculpture. The show, which will include work by TJ Ahearn, Xavier Cortada, Cynthia Cruz, Virginia Fifield, Francie Bishop Good, Alvaro Ilizarbe a.k.a. Freegums, Bethany Krull, Sinisa Kukec, Sarah Michelle Rupert, Tawnie Silva, John Zoller and 53 others, will open 7-10 p.m. Saturday and run through July 3 at David Castillo Gallery, 2234 N.W. Second Ave., Miami. The work pictured here is “R” from AdrienneRose Gionta’s series ARG (as in AdrienneRose Gionta). It is the sound and color vibrations of her saying her initials, ARG.
